A long time ago

This blog is dedicated to the Canadian boys who served at Tholthorpe Aerodrome during World War II. This blog came about to preserve photos taken those many years ago in England, during a chaotic time in Europe and the rest of the world.

A collection of photos has been preserved, all taken by Marcel D. Baillargeon of Tecumseh Ontario in Canada. He was a member of Squadron 425, the Alouette Squadron. Marcel passed away in May of 2000 in Tecumseh of natural causes. What follows is the reproduction of his photos of that period in his life, living in the tumultuous times in England, at an airbase used for sorties to the continent to bomb German cities. Halifaxes and Lancasters departed the airfield in great numbers for their bombing runs, many of his friends and acquaintances never returning.

This is his story, with comments by myself, Robert M.
Baillargeon, his son. I'll try to remember some of his stories about the war and include them in the blog.
